Me a social butterfly? Who would have taught it? My introverted personality and my distaste for most social media would never lead me to be called a social butterfly. A social butterfly is good at networking, charismatic and sociable. Although I may sometimes strive to be these things, I would never describe myself that way.

I’m also not the person to take on a challenge. I am not very competitive at all, but challenge myself often. I don’t enjoy the general nature surrounding competitions or challenges, but I know to be successful sometimes you need to be uncomfortable.

I’ll start with the Twitter part of the challenge. One of the few things I’ve always followed on Twitter is sports. My favorite sport is baseball, and I love the Chicago Cubs. They won the other night, and I retweeted about it.

Another sport I love is tennis, and Radio Rolland Garros is my absolute favorite. I like listening to tennis more than I enjoy watching it, especially the French Open. I get up early and try not to miss a minute of the excitement being called by great character cast of broadcasters.

This week I commented on blog posts by Shaniqua, Marion, and Young. Shaniqua had a great post about moving from a lurker to an active participant called, From Lurker to Active Contributor. Her post is what encouraged me to send my first comment in the Facebook group I joined for the upcoming assignment.

Marion’s post The Good, the Bad & the Blue Bird, really sparked my interest. Marion writes about changes happening with Twitter’s compliance of EU laws on disinformation, and how that may impact the future use of Twitter in the region. She poses some great questions about what rights you have as citizens and how it may affect the future of news in France. It’s a great thought exercise and maybe if the US had similar requirements to the EU, Twitter would be forced to remain in compliance, and the world would be a better place (go big or go home).

Finally, I read Young’s post, Let’s gain some karma points (iykyk). As I posted earlier this week, I just joined Reddit, and in this post he talks about Karma points a feature of the site I had no idea existed. It definitely taught me that I need to go read a little more on Reddit as I dive into the platform.

Challenges like these push me to do a little more, like interact on Twitter (though small).
